i dont know i never tried it personly but people i know have and it worked. A cd is made up of pits and lands that the laser hits if it hits a land the light is relflected back and is translated into a 0 if it donest its a 1 just a tid bit i know from class last month lol. Its worse to have a scratch on top then it is on the bottom dont rember exactly y but just know it is ill get back to ya when i rember the answer.
