A Velociraptor is cost effective, fast and efficient. If you have money to blow and you really don't care about price - sure go for an SSD. Otherwise a normal mechanical disk is just fine. The performance difference isn't "life breaking news" that will change your overall PC experience. You still do the same things with an SDD drive you did with a mechanical drive, only in fast-forward 1.25x.
