On a Geforce 4 TI 4800 the 8x AGP is not as important but on the higher end cards you encounter problems using the low bandwidth 4x AGP slot. I build systems end that was a problem I encountered because of the fact that there was a problem with the BIOS causing the AGP not to run at 8X. A BIOS upgrade on the motherboards with the faulty FX 5600's fixed them straight away.
