Even really high end end servers usually don't have as much (some really good ones might have 64GB or 128GB or more). You'd practically need a super computer, ala, a cluster of many high end PCs, to have that kind of RAM. Not counting old stuff, most modern PCs take between 1GB and 16GB, with 2GB to 4GB being far common, and 8GB and up being higher end. 585GB is the size of your hard disk (probably a 640GB drive), so that'd be space, not memory.
As for the original post, I've had the EAsy Info tool for an older game read me as having like 1MB or -1MB (can't remember which) of main system RAM when I have 8GB. The game had a requirement of like 128MB or something.
