most probably a big fuck you to pc gamers for pirating COD4 if its true since i think something like 50-75% of servers where pirated copies

Huh, if you search up "crack" on GameMonitor or GameTracker, you will find around 20-30 cracked servers filled with people. Now this is nothing compared to the "legal" servers that are filled and active in the list. It's more like 5-10%.
