I don't see anything wrong with that. People take Christmas holidays off, for example, what's wrong with the commemoration of this holiday? I'm not someone who celebrates this or anything, but why should anyone care?

true but how many western people are going to know all that? They see a arabic name and the 9/11 date, then they make the most obvious connection.

Yeah I understand how the connection could be made in someone's head, but I think one should at least ask the store owner for clarification, or do a quick google search for "Imam Ali" (which is what I did), before jumping to that conclusion.

I would have definitely asked the store owner about it "so what's that sign all about?"
Texas is a bible-belt state as well; sure to have a lot of right wing nuts who fit the description in nikki's post.
