Here is a hypothetical situation. You somehow learn this to be incorrect. You learn that atheists, who have chosen to reject your religion, DON'T go to hell. They just cease to exist in a conscious sense, the body decomposes, etc.

What would be your reaction? Is it a feeling of relief, or of disappointment?

I don't have a good answer to this question, so I'm responding with another question and hoping this topic derails.
