I wouldn't be suprised if some of the issues on those Macs were caused by user error/inexperience.

Oh, I don't doubt it, but Mac's pitch angle is that "IT JUST WORKS". Their ads target the computer-illiterate (In fact if I recall correctly I saw one a while ago with some middle aged guy saying something to the effect of "I can't even find the on button on my PC LOL!"). If macs aren't as idiot-proof as they're advertised to be, why pay more for them? Hardware with rounded edges? An operating system that doesn't run much more than Apple software? To be part of the hip, young, Apple Community?
