I'm still using the same 5-button MS optical mouse that I've had for 7 or 8 years now- an older variant of this, actually, but in white. The thing is covered in a very durable second skin of grunge buildup from all that use. The wheel started to go a while back, but regularly cleaning the inside seems to be keeping the multiclick fuckups to a minimum (I've learned to be cautious around things that are middle-clickable, like browser tabs). Unfortunately, it seems I'm going to have to buy a new one soon, and I might just get two so that I won't be left dangling years down the road when I need another replacement and nobody's selling them anymore. I have a few of the more basic 3-button Intellimouse opticals lying around that are even older but not as worn out; I suppose I'll fall back on those if I ever run out of other options. I've been using the same mouse for so damn long that my hand just flat out refuses to be comfortable handling anything else; when I can't get an identical or similar product anymore I'll probably start going Frankenstein on the things rather than adapt to something new.

I bitch and moan a lot about MS, but they used to make some good quality hardware- my old Sidewinder Precision Pro joystick is still working, too, and that thing's pushing its 13th birthday. I don't like the too small/too big/over-designed/ambidextrous/cordless shit they're putting out these days though. Especially cordless- I can't stand cordless. I don't give a shit if it's the way of the future, or if it's better or whatever else, if it doesn't have a cord, it doesn't go on my desk. I'm a bit of a backwards, stubborn prick about that. Seriously. Give me cord or give me death.

Remember, kids: illiteracy is cool. If you took the time to read this, you are clearly a loser who will never get laid. You've been warned.
