I've been a busy gal but I solved it!

Here's the run down for anyone out there

Install ren as usual, do the update via the start menu because its the only way!

If a no cd patch is required install after update

Install renguard

It might come up with no WOL found it might fail and my first time it did, but just on the off chance I hit it again and it let me into the game, account set up and off we jolly well go!

It took me ages to do because I didn't put in the no cd patch and had to go through the installation again but with or without it it works, another reason why renguard should be installed on your system. Thank the gods for Renguard!
