No, at least 3.44 sets PNG as default Value.

Nevertheless, to answer the simple question and coming BTT:

Get Fraps to get a screener in every Situation the Game is running. Ren itself can only do ingame screeners. Fraps is free for limited Use. The Full isn't expensive... erm OK it wasn't expensive for me thanks to the Euro.

However, the second Tool you need is Irfanview. This can open, modify and save your PNG/TGA as a JPEG.
