I dunno about ubuntu and its drivers nor do I know about wireless support :v (I run Xubuntu on my home server PC I have here.)
My instinct (which is usually wrong...) would be to open the terminal and type "ifconfig" and see if you're connected. Or open the browser (probably easier  ) and see if you are connected....
(I'm leaving the above statement there in case anyone wants has a "no connectivity" problem with ubuntu )
