My iPod Nano of over two years has lost the left side of its sound, and I want a newer, better player for non-work use.

I don't use iTunes, and generally speaking, I don't want anything to do with Apple anymore. The Zune is cool, but I think it's retarded that it doesn't synchronize with WMP 11, but I'll still be willing to consider it.

However, can anyone recommend some other players? I'm looking for something with at least 8 GB, seeing as my collection is about 30 GB (all bought btw Satisfied

). I'm not looking for fancy features, but I want something that has excellent sound when paired with $200 plus headphones. Plus, it's a bonus if the battery is replaceable, and the player is durable.

If I can get some testimonials, that'd be great; and for what it's worth, the music I listen to is mainly hard rock, in the vein of Van Halen, Def Leppard, and hair metal, so I don't need anything that's all that bass heavy, but rather sounds great across the spectrum.
