I have friends with macs who want it, but aren't sure if it's worth paying for.

Personally I can't use macs for long periods. They annoy me, and whilst I could probably beat one into submission and behaving how I want it, but that's going against the mac ethos.

Let me justify. Macs try to be smart, try to save me time by doing things I don't want them to do. iTunes is a good example. I don't want iTunes to play my music, or sync my iPod or update unless I tell it to. This smartness is liked by a lot of people, not by me.

I don't want to have to pay extra for the hardware then beat the software into submission, even if it looks very shiny.
