I can't see how the DVI connector is being used when you have onboard VGA. Most mobos don't have DVI. Define DVD wont work..What wont open, wont read etc.. Try resetting the CMOS. There should be a jumper on the mobo near the battary to do so. If you cannot find the jumper take out the battary for 5secs and then put it back in.

If you seriously smelt something burning then you might have to send the mobo back. Anymore help from me will have to wait 'till the morning. I need to sleep.
