The Spoony Manifesto
- Do away with the current cushy prison system. Follow the example of that dude in Arizona. Serious offenders, including offenders of any violent crime, sentenced to camps made of surplus army tents. Cheap for the taxpayer, instead of the current system in the UK whereby it costs more to keep one person incarcerated than the average adult earns. Shitty food, nothing to do, barbed wire fences, vicious guard dogs, armed guards etc.
Then watch the crime rate drop like an Italian striker.
Keep a few of the current prisons for minor offences, juvenile centres etc. Modify the rest into, I dunno, old folks' homes or something
- Get rid of speed cameras. Everyone currently employed to monitor/service them relocated to real police work. If they have no training, experience etc, no problem - just suit 'em up, give them an unloaded gun, and have them act as public deterrents to real crime because they'll be far more helpful to society than they are now.
- Employers have no restrictions whatsoever on who they can hire and fire - other than age and legal work permits, obviously
- Get rid of the fucking fuel tax. Petrol in the UK is currently the equivalent of around $7.50-$8 US/gallon, 70% of which is tax. Make that more like 20%. How to meet the shortfall? Two answers to this question follow...
- Legalise cannabis, but tax the hell out of it. I'm talking like the 70% tax currently on petrol. Harder drug controls stay where they are.
- Spending on housing+handouts for illegal immigrants and asylum seekers: zero. Advertise that fact globally. Have a complimentary bus service (yes, bus) making a trip back to various Asian/Middle Eastern countries for anyone who didn't come into the UK legally, with just enough food to get there.
- Dole cuts off after six months
- Political correctness made illegal
- Firm warfare legalised and televised as a sport (basically boxing or UFC but on a larger, more dramatic scale). Maybe have a league or something for it too, I dunno. I'm sure it'd be popular.
- Death penalty, but only for British-born terrorists. Means of death to be quite unnecessarily painful.
