This is just a joke, right?

If the skin was such a thread to the integrity of the game (to the extent that it gave someone a 'cheat-like' advantage) ... why wouldn't RenGuard block it? I understand they don't know about every skin, recticle, etc. out there ...... but they know about a LOT of modifications to the game and have not blocked them.

Some things are merely cosmetic while others enhance your gameplay.

If you were a tribe from the congo going up US special forces, do you think they'd be using the same technology? No, it'd be a slaughter. But what if that same technology was available for either side to use? Then it would be fair, right? Well that is exactly how I see Renegade. Some things like the "tracer pack" which help illuminate bullets and splash are extremely realistic and are used in real life. And since anyone can download it, its just a matter of finding it.

I played my first 2+ years of Renegade with absolutely NO skins or modifications whatsoever. None. Now I have a few that I would not play without, simply because I enjoy them. Does that make me less skilled? No. I honestly think I could own the same person with or without the skins.

Further, when brining clanwars.cc players into the argument, don't assume that skins have anything to do withe fact that they're better than a non-clanwars.cc player. These people live and breath DAILY competition. Whereas the rest of the community that is "clanning" may only play one or two clanwars a week. If that. Their experience is far higher, and many of them abandoned the community/pub servers because the competition became a joke. It has nothing to do with skins.

Back to the main topic, I think some skins do give you a better advantage ... but not a "cheat like" advantage that one should complain about. If there was a skin or modification that was not publically available and gave someone a clear advantage - that would be close to cheating in my eyes. So until the anticheats block these modifications/skins ... or until a server tells me I cannot use them there ... "PLAY BALL!"
