There is a link to RenHelp1.9 which is excellent for ansewering all of your basic questions and also stonerooks FAQ, which contains a lot of useful facts and how to do certain things. There are also other tutorials written by me, Laeubi and many other people that you may find useful, these tend to be specifi though, which you will probably find useful once you have started mapping.
