Not true. If the bolt of eletricity can reach from the sky to the bike, it can go from the bike to the ground. Thinking that the rubber tires will protect you is only a myth. You get car's now-days with "farridate cages" (<- if that's how it's spelt)to protect you by sending the eletricity around you and into the ground.

Yeah, the rubber from tires saving you is only a myth like being in a car during a storm is safe because of the tires. However, being in a hardtop during a storm is likely to save you because the lightning will hit the steel framing.
