Never knew GDI means "global defence initiation but Nod?"? I always thourght it meant "Global Defence Initiative"

The letters "NOD" means it is an acronym like it should be "N.O.D", but, "NOD" doesn't mean anything therefore it is not an acronym and is not spelt "NOD", it is spelt "Nod". Nod doesn't have the capital "O" and "D" witch makes it a word, not an acronym.

Yup. Nod is an actual word, and it's original reference (to my knowledge) is in the Book of Genesis when it talks about Cain (not Kane) being exhiled into the Land of Nod.
