I was wrong about the 939.
The AM2 is 50% faster, will last 20 times longer and AMD will never change their socket pin array from the AM2. If you get that computer for you're birthday it will only make you miserable. I was completely wrong about this 939 Venice core, I would rather have a celleron than this piece of shit.
Mascheif, abandon ship!! Run away from that piece of shit you have pictured. That computer will only bring you misery. Oh my God, I just noticed the 7900 GTX video card!!! I need to check with comrade and icedog about that model.
No one cares what you think! No one cares what comrade thinks!! And no one cares what I think!! I was just commenting on the computer pictured at the top of the page.

We're telling you to go with Socket AM2 because it's AMD's newer technology, not because it's currently offering "better" (it's not, it's just as good) performance than Socket 939. Doing the switch now would also mean saving money overtime. How? Well, you'd already have a DDR2-enabled motherboard and DDR2 memory, which is currently cheaper than DDR1 memory modules on most online stores.
Moron.

That's very unlikely. When new technology comes along (DDR3 maybe?), the socket of the processor might have to be changed. I would be suprised if they used the same type of socket for more than 10 years.

DDR3 memory isn't going to be adopted by AMD anytime soon, they just switched to DDR2, I don't know about Intel, but currently only one company has begun production of a DDR3 memory module.
