Hmmm, Try to get a headphone which you can directly plug into the ac97 soundcard. And does it only do it when you plug in USB devices? Btw onboard soundcard's decrease peformance not that drasticly as you are having though. The only one good at this is the Nforce2 soundstorm I think, Other then that a onboard sound card sucks for gameing.
edit* so you'r saying that it does run good when you don't have the USB mic in? But when it's out it works ok but then the soundcard is still running, So I guess it has something to do with the ubs ports..
