If I'm right it happens when you copy some .DLL files when you didn't update Renegade, try patching your game up if you haven't done that before:

ftp://ftp.westwood.com/pub/renegade/updates/Renegade_1037_En glish.exe

Didn't work now it says on patch "Old File not found However a file with the same name is found.No update done since file contence did not match"
