Quote: | the nudity was on the PS version, there is a picture on the wall of a women sitting with a cock in her. THAT is porn.

I know the image you refer to. It appears in GTA: Vice City, NOT San Andreas, and just a minor point: you see a bare ass. That's all that is visible. Bare asses don't even merit PG-13 ratings. Bare asses are generally accepted as approprate (if not often discussed or mentioned) content for network television. Hardcore porn, by definition, has to show an erect male penis. For anything to qualify as porn AT ALL, it must show full frontal nudity of either a male or female body(don't ask me why, I don't make the rules). The image in question shows neither, and therefore is not porn. Remember: implied sex does not count AS sex. This is also why the rocking cars and "hot coffee" content do not count as pornographic; they do not show the sexual organs.
Quote: | Im 15 and i dont own a porn mag.(im not some sheltered freak)im just a person who doesnt disobey the law.
|
I applaud you on your restraint. Truly, I do.
That doesn't, however, negate the fact that porn is not something alien or unknown to the teenage population in general. Porn has yet to have a negative effect on its millions of viewers/readers. Around that age is when people generally begin to explore their individual sexuality anyway; images of people screwing aren't going to have any effect except, perhaps, to make a person sexually aroused. Which, if science is to be trusted, is a healthy thing. Of course, it isn't appropriate for younger teens to be screwing each other like bunny rabbits, but a little porn never hurt anyone.
Quote: | Im saying why do people want to put sex and gore in games? i can understand some gore but ffs its getting outta hand. Sex...look people that is not something that needs to be on every damn billbord, tv show, game, ect..
|
Gore is an obvious one- gore is good stress relief. The more violent you can be in a virtual world, the less violent you'll be in real life. The effect is similar to that of a punching bag (i.e. something you can take your anger out on without hurting anybody), but without the bloody knuckles.
Sex...well, as far as the "sex" in GTA goes, like everything else in that series, it is a satire. Nothing about GTA is meant to be serious; everything is a stereotype blown waaaaaaay out of proportion. Like everything else, sex is exaggerated and blown so far out of proportion as to be utterly hilarious when compared to the real world (and yet the game shies away from showing ACTUAL, VISIBLE sex- part of the reason "hot coffee" was excluded from the final release, even though it shows no nudity). Strippers and prostitutes have implants the size of melons, an excess of makeup, etc. Pimps in gaudy purple suits cruise around in classic cars turned into lowriders. The list goes on.
The subtleties of GTA's shameless parodies and satires are lost on people who would use the game to further a political agenda. Think of it as a political cartoon in the newspaper, writ large and interactive. Nothing, and I mean nothing, in that series is meant to be taken at face value.
Quote: | The governemnt IS the people. If they want to say hay your kid cant buy porn untill he is 18 or what ever then that is the will of the people.
|
So we should just bend over and take whatever the government does stright up the ass and say "thank you, sir, may I have another?" That statement COMPLETELY disagrees with everything this country is based on. The government, in case you haven't noticed yet, REPRESENTS the people- but the people have NO SAY in the day-to-day goings on in the government. What the government DOES and what the people WANT it to do are two very different things. I'm guessing you don't follow politics all that closely if you haven't figured that one out yet- that statement has the ring of middle school social studies classes. It would be nice if the government always did what the people wanted- but reality isn't so fantastic.
Quote: | porn prevents ignorance? Wow, now thats messed up.
|
Someone didn't read very carefully. Here, let me direct quote so you don't miss the important bits this time:
ME | If people in this country had any sense at all, thorough sex ed courses would be taught around the time puberty begins- INFORMATION arms people against corruption, NOT ISOLATION AND IGNORANCE.
|
Sex education courses, not porn, for those of us who can read. SEX ED prevents IGNORANCE by arming people with KNOWLEDGE. I thought that part was fairly clear.
Quote: | Stores already do sell rated M stuff to kids. I know people who are 10 and play GTA
|
Wrong. Stores sell M-rated games to adults, who then give it to their kids. If that adult happens to be ignorant as to the content of said M-rated game, it's hardly the fault of the store or the developer. It isn't their job to do that- if an adult walks into the store, buys a game, then turns around and hands it to a minor, there isn't anything they can do about that. No rating change will prevent them from doing that. The only way to completely stop adults from fronting for minors is to completely ban the game in question- and that is a horrible, stupid, bass-ackwards awful solution to ANY problem.
You might as well ban entertainment above the G/E rated level if you want to take it THAT far. If that's what you truly want, have fun in your candy-corn sugar-coated fantasy world...just don't expect everyone else to ever move there.
"Arms discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. Horrid mischief would ensue were (the law-abiding) deprived of the use of them." - Thomas Paine
Remember, kids: illiteracy is cool. If you took the time to read this, you are clearly a loser who will never get laid. You've been warned.
