But tracking the mac address would be next to impossible. Assuming that they hook up their computer directory to their ISP, the mac address will then only be spotted by the ISP. Are you going to put out an All Points Bulletin for your mac address? Good luck.
If they hook into a hub or router before going to their ISP, then you will most likely never find it.
Such is the nature of the Internet Protocol.
...you have, of course, contacted your police department?
If you're really devious, this may be considered a cyber crime, in which case the F.B.I. has a special division specifically for you!
I'm sure you'll be able to find it (the FBI CyberCrime division) on google.
