Actually, it can be two, unless PCI-ex just got kicked up to a 32 bandwidth, last time I checked it was sixteen...
PCI-Ex and PCI are two completly different things. The fastest AGP is 8x, and I believe that PCI-ex is 16x, so that's only twice as fast, correct?
Deadfive got a PCI card, not a PCI-Ex. Just so you knoes.

Only problem with PCIE is that we can't make full use of it yet. Most graphics cards right now make full use of AGP 8x and nothing more. PCIE is the future though because games will be designed in a way to make as much use of it as posible.
If you want to increase your FPS, there are a few things you can do.
If you have an nVidia card, get the drivers discussed here http://www.renforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=14652 .
Also try and find out how to disable vertical sync.
