Tsunami Connection?
Several readers wondered if the magnetar blast could be related to the December tsunami. Scientists have made no such connection. The blast affected Earth's ionosphere, which is routinely affected to a greater extent by changes in solar activity.

Of course, what that could mean is... if something 50,000 light years away could trigger a tsunami on Earth, there could be public panic involved. So, we'll just say it's not related. Razz

Seriously though... this sure makes me feel really small. It would have been awesome if it had triggered an amazing Aurora Borealis. Smile

On a side note, I would pay big bucks to witness a supernova.

I'm the bawss.
