Deleting scriptsx.dll will not solve anything, it can just be deleted as it is not needed...
the file will keep re-appearing everytime you install CP1 with that error.

But also, make sure the following files are as follows:
- game.exe - 353kb
- game2.exe - 4.20mb

Game.exe is RG
Whilst Game2.exe is Renegade itself.

If you don't have either one, I would recommend you ask one of your renegade buddies to send you one of the files over MSN or something.
Or just download RG again & re-install.
