In my PC class we learned that if the processor fan goes out on a P4 it will melt in 90 seconds if messures ain't taken to cool it down in there Wink



Wrong wrong, This doesnt Count for The Pentium 4.
Since the (Willametta core) the p4 has a protection that as soon it notices its not being cooled, The pc wont boot at all (black screen ) ore will shutdown as soon as possible

i forgot the name for this sort of protection.
But AMD has it to SInce the AMD 64.

Older Proccesors (ea) AMD T-bird didnt have this protection
Meaning if u would run it without a cooler it would die soon (probly)

About the melting part. i have seen a p4 black once on a pick, but that was some time ago HardwareOCP 4.0 Ghz... it died
