I'd have to agree with Java, without a middle ground I can't vote.

Both are needed for a society to function properly. Too much liberty, and you have another Canada. Argue something is "offensive", argue that a certain race has the right to govern themselves -outside of Canadian Law, all in the name of liberty, and it goes to far. Too much Equality and you have a country where it is forced upon an individual, regardless of how it's done.

The middleground isn't "ideal" either. It's near impossible to define, as what one person things is perfect, will be too liberal or equal for another. I'd say go with whats sensible in this case.
