No doubt your IP range is 169.254.xxx.xxx

I have no idea why Renegade does this, but it won't work on that range.

Change your IP's on all machines to 10.0.0.xx. Have the server as 10.0.0.1 and go from there, its annoying, but playing Renegade is worth it - Hopefully its fixed in the final.
