... Of Trey Dornieden, I came hear because this is the communitty that he had participated in the most outside of the Dominion Guild. I posted because his presence affected a great many people and helped to make Renegade what it became by hosting a number of servers and working with WW staff.
His nick in game was DOM_TreyD and many people will remember the domsvr name because while he was able he always had at least 4 up at any given time. a 32, two 20s and a 16 person sniping server. Not many people know that hosting these servers cost him his job with a company known as Choicepoint. I knew of Choicepoint because I work (worked) in Federal Law Enforcement and it is no small irony that one of the three counties that he serviced was the one I worked out of. The software that he helped to write enabled myself and many other Law enforcement personnel around the country to help keep the streets safer.
He also impacted the gaming communitty in other ways. The Dominion Guild spawned many other clans and they all had one thing in common. A great respect and admiration for this man who always had time to speak to anyone. He would give his time to anyone no matter the age and I would dare to to say he affected lives in a positive manner because of his ability to listen.
I was one of the last people to speak to him the night he died. I know of at least one other that spoke to him after I did. I say this becuase he was complaining of chest pains and not being able to breathe well. I asked if he wanted me to call the paramedics and the reply was a long time in coming. I learned the next morning that he had passed away from a blood clot in his lungs. To thiw day, I feel some guilt at what I didn't do.
The Dominion Guild shut down thier forums and made one topic on his passing. Over 600 people came to pay their respects to a man most knew only as a voice in TeamSpeak or as a line IRC.
You are still greatly missed by those of ue who knew you best and we can only hope that you are in a much better place. I for sure that the world is a much sadder place withut you.

TreyD, man will i never forget this great man.
He took little ol me, helped me out, and guided me along some of the paths i am currently on.
He was a great man, a great teacher, and a friend not to be without.
I have missed him since the day i last talked to him. I can't even delete the emails from my inbox from him, or his name from my icq. What he taught me about many things will forever stick with me, as well as his memory.
Always missing TreyD.

A year?
God, how times does fly. It doesn't seem two weeks ago that he was in IRC, giving people advice on this, laughing at jokes, and being a damned good person.
I don't pretend that I knew him well, a year ago I only started being "in the loop" myself, so I am sure other people, especially those who were with him in Dominion Guild, remember him for better reasons and can post more thoruoughly on why he truely deserves our thanks.
My thoughts go out to those he left behind, I can only think on what they are feeling.

Trey was a very close friend of mine. He was always there when I needed someone to talk to. I miss him terribly and will never cease to miss him. However I also remember the many good times I had playing alongside him in DOM and just generally talking about this and that. He was a great man. I will never forget him.

I have never met Trey, and I wish I had. From everything I've heard, I feel like I missed out a lot by just not knowing this man... I don't know what else to say, but he was a great guy and he will always be missed.
God bless.
