Well, I'm waving a red flag in front of a bull now, but here goes...
I would like to see more "vulgar" swearing censored for a number of reasons. I think this thread has already exhibited ABUSE of the lack of a filter. I swear as much as the next person, but NOT in a message board. I have no problem with hearing or reading swearing when it's appropriate.
Now these boards are the official home of the Renegade forums, which has been sanctioned by Westwood. Seeing as the game has a rating, the boards should reflect that rating. Although such rating is only relevant (legally) in the USA (I believe), the spirit of any rating should be reflected in the official "home" for the boards.
I'm not a prude, far from it, but I honestly think that many parents would not be happy if their younger kids saw this much profanity. As a parent, uncle and godfather, I know young kids swear, but I'm disappointed to see it being actively encouraged in here.I'm nobody, but a supporter of the game and the community, and frankly I'm disappointed.
Please reconsider the lack of a filter.
Thanks.

Hey thats a nice flag you got there...let me come a little closer.
Paragraph #1) Who decides what is "too vulgar". There may be many things you think are just "vulgar" which I consider "too vulgar" ... same thing applies for "when its appropiate" -- you may have to have a moderator JUST TO determine a)what is too vulgar b)when it is appropiate
Paragraph #2) This is all bullshit - trying to tie the rating of a game to the "largest Renegade Fansites forums" does not work.
These are NOT the Westwood Online Renegade forums - this is : "one of the largest Renegade Fansites forums" «« to quote the page you get from Westwood.com » Renegade » Main Forum
Paragraph #3) Fuck the kids - they can get there moral standards somewhere else. This is such a catch all ....but...for the kids ?!?! We could ban soap-on-a-rope "for the kids" if you wanted to. Once again fuck the kids - dont let some Renegade forums be your babysitter and everything will be hunky-dory(sp?)
"I know young kids swear, but I'm disappointed to see it being actively encouraged in here.I'm nobody, but a supporter of the game and the community, and frankly I'm disappointed"
Who here is encouraging kids to swear ? (looks for hands to raise) Thats right : no one. I can't speak for everyone else but I know I dont think kiddies should swear - it's bad for them and trivializes my favorite terms !
Bottom line : I think the basis of your arguement is flawed. This is Crimsons website, she can do whatever the fuck she wants (even if that means deleting this post ). Other peoples kids are thier fucking problems. And yes "fuck" is one of my favorite expletives.
See : Kids Aren't Made of Glass @ savethehumans.com for a funnier discussion on the same topic.

I am not "actively encouraging" swearing, except in this thread. There has not been any misuse or overuse of the lack of a swear filter in any other thread.
I'm the bawss.
