My computer has gone fucking retarded.

When it goes to sleep mode it freezes.
When I run Norton it freezes on a random folder
When I run ad aware it freezes on a random folder
IE freezes for no reason at all
It runs extremely slow
This morning the windows XP load bar just kept loading, and it never ended
Not it starts up fine

I would do that. but my restore disk requires me to have a partition on my C drive with a file on it. And I put in a new hard drive so i don't have the partition. How would I make a partition?

I'm not sure what the situation with your particular restore disk is, but in setting up Windows, you are able to create a new partition. Typically, an OEM system's restore capabilities are tied into the motherboard, and replacing the hard drive shouldn't cause a problem...

I don't think you need to bother reformatting, the freezes and stuff are probably due to errornéous system files.

Go to start, run, type in scandisk. Run that on standard mode, should fix the freezing when going into sleep mode at least. Try scandisk in advanced mode too if you still have stuff hanging up.. and defrag your system to get the speed back. run > defrag.

If you're pulling the plug on your computer, you gotta run scandisk when you boot back up.
