Because no IRC traffic is (going to be) allowed, so it doesn't matter which channel.

I say this is pretty shitty from SM, I think the best you could try to do is

-convince them that your servers pose no security risk at all
-try to find as many servers that would be breaking the new rules (both in the Ren and other communities) and threaten to move to their competitors en masse.

Very stupid move on their part, they'll be losing 1000s of $$$ if they go through with this. Maybe smaller hosts will take advantage of this though, maybe by lowering prices on dedicated boxes, and doing more advertising.

I just wanted to note one thing that I find to be very important:

I read the thread on the servermatrix.com forums, and I'm appalled at how some of you acted. Particularly, Aeonreaper, SuperFlyingEngi, and Cowmisfit. I realize the amount of damage Alkaline has done/is doing to the Renegade community, but the forums for many of Ren's top server hosters is not the place to stage a flame battle! Do you realize the administrators of Server Matrix can see how childishly you are representing the Ren community--and possibly Crimson in their eyes? I'm not saying this as a "shut the hell up", but as a caution for the whole community. We lost support of Ren's developer (EA) at the start. We don't need any more problems.

And if I just sounded like an total idiot, oh well...

Bombario - the question is do they want to lose thousands of dollars from removing all the n00bstories and BC servers?

The answer would probably be no.

I'm sure that crimson could find another good host if they do make this the case. Possibly a company like http://www.ev1servers.net might be good for you.

*Clap*

Very well pointed out, I'd say you are 100% right on the matter. You did not sound like an idiot because it had to be said.
