I have a bit of extra money ($17,000) Shocked and decided to start a hosting company dedicated to gaming servers.

Here's my price list so far.

12 players - $15 monthly
24 players - $27 monthly
32 players - $40 monthly

Keep in mind, I'm not doing this for the money. So far, I'm making enough through website hosting to break even on the servers payment. Smile

No setup fee. I've set it up to be about $1.10 per player (Give or take a few dollars) Payment will be via paypal or CC.

You should probably post the specs of the boxes these servers will be offered on. Its easy to say you are hosting a "24 player server", but if thats a box just capable of running a 24player CS server, that won't cut it for Renegade and other games that use gobs of bandwidth and CPU.

If the 2.4's have HyperThreading like the 2.8's do, then you won't be able to do that. Renegade's FDS doesn't support multiple processors (even virtual ones)

You'd have to run 2 24 player servers on a 2.4 and you can also get 2 32 player servers on a 2.8 and hold a 50+ SFPS.

I'm the bawss.

I did a test with two 24 player servers today on the same box and it ran at 60 SFPS with no lag the entire time.. I'm sure I could do 32, but I prefer to keep the SFPS at 60+ at all times. Smile

If you've got 17k spare, send me some $$ im in huge debt!

In the end it doesn't matter if you are who you say you are. You will still mean nothing to me.

When i have kids, everytime i drive past a fast food restaurant, im gonna punch my kid in the face, then they'll never wanna come..

Hope you are paying for a TS license then. TS has been cracking down on people charging for the service. TS is free as long as you are providing the service for free. Once you start charging, they want to get paid.

TeamSpeak.org

TeamSpeak is an application which allows its users to talk to each other over the internet and basically was designed to run in the background of online games. The voice quality and hereby the bandwidth usage is configurable and can be low for modem users or as good as normal phone calls for better connections. Still the client's maximum bandwidth won't exceed 25.9 KBit/s (=3.3 KB/s) upstream.
Also TeamSpeak uses as little latency as possible, which makes TeamSpeak one of the best online gaming communication programs.
TeamSpeak has a lot more features than these basics, but even unexperienced users don't have to be scared. As TeamSpeak is divided into a server and a client application, advanced users can set up a TeamSpeak server, which is so to say the meeting point for the clients. This means that beginners can just fire up the client, connect to a server and talk to their friends. After the first small steps they will discover a whole variety of features that give TeamSpeak a high rating when it comes to voice chat tools as well.

But one of TeamSpeak's largest advantages is: TeamSpeak is a cross-platform voice communication tool. This means that client and server are available for Windows as well as for Linux. It doesn't matter which operating system you use any longer, you can talk "across the border". And yes, special greetings to the large MAC community, a MAC version of TeamSpeak is planned already.

Additionally we have to say that TeamSpeak is a contribution to the gaming community and thus it is completely free for non-commercial users. Commercial users, defined as anyone who uses TeamSpeak as company or to earn money (see the license agreement for the exact definition), need to pay a small fee to TeamSpeak. Read the license agreement for details.

Even if you are only charging for the bandwidth it uses?

You are charging them for the service, even if it is to cover the cost of the bandwidth.
