Okay first of all I don't know much about wireless networking.

802.11b linksys 11megs/sec goes straight from cable to linksys router.

Well I came home today after school; turned my computer on, and no internet! Crying or Very Sad I checked the available networks. For my network it showed up, but said it was unavailable. Sad Also there was another network named "newton". It says I can connect to it, but it doesn't work ether. I am assuming this may be a neighbor??? I'll take some screenshots if you guys want, and post them when I get to school. Right now I'm at a freinds house. Also if any of you know burnalot (aka vgunnerv) or matrix-hax could you tell them. They are way oldbies like me, so some of you should know them. Thanks.

Turn your router and cable modem and all that other shit off for 30 seconds turn it back on... if that doesn't work maybe you have your WEP wrong or some one got on your system and changed it... if that happened go down and hold the reset button on your wireless access point.

Just feel how hot the Cable modem and Router are.

If either of them are fairly hot, put them in the fridge for a bit untill they cool down, hook them back up, restart your PC and see if it works.

I'm thinking that if you just came back from school or something, nobody would have touched anything or changed a setting, and heat could have simply gotten to it.

Ok I'm on my silly 800mhz computer right now. Sad

Well I tryed all that; no luck... Crying or Very Sad Ok two things I can think of:

1. I have comcast, and they scanned me a few days back, and told me it costs 5$ extra to have two computers hooked up to the cable! Maby they some way of blocking my access point??? If they do I'm going to sue them.

2. More likely... I did a spybot seach and destroy scan on may 9th. After the scan it said something like "Would you like spybot to change your network settings?" I said yes like a moron... Maby that's it???

Ok one thing that really pisses me off is I tryed to reinstail the drivers for my Linksys Wireless-B USB Network Adapter Model No. WUSB11. There is no unistail, and I can't find the drivers ANYWHERE! I'm sure they are still there though, because it's in my tray, and I can open it up to find... "newton". I even tried popping the disk in to see if there is a reinstail there. The auto run didn't start, so I opened the disk. Founded two instail exe files, and all that happens is it flashes a window; then disappears...

I'm so confused / angry... All I want is my internet back... Crying or Very Sad

How about you turn your system back a week or so (no files will be lost).

Also, Comcast cannot charge you for having other PCs on your network. How will they know, unless you tell them like a fucktard? It's your router, Their your PCs, It's your money. In all rights, Comcast cannot do that, it's just wrong. They can never find out, unless you tell them, so don't.

I tryed the system restore already... Didn't work.

Also Comcast can know without you telling them. I'm not sure exactly how they do it, but it seems to be some kind of scan comming from the ISP itself. I'm sure, because I saw the scan myself on netstat, and they called me the next day to tell me I own them 5$ more every month.

I have no idea what's the problem with it; I guess I'll just reinstail windows after I back up my progs. Crying or Very Sad *sigh*

Try downloading and installing the newest firmware for your router, my router had a similar problem (it might be the same) before I updated it. Smile

BTW you have to update it using a computer that is wired directly to the router. It has to be connected via a ethernet cable.

YAY! I got it to work! No idea how I did though... I just unplugged the ethernet cable that connects the modem to the router, and plugged it back in. *shrug* Thank you guys for trying to help me, it means alot to me.
