That thing is the size of a greyhound bus! LOL its so big they have to dump it out of a cargo plane. Instant parking lot I guess. Actually thats what they used the smaller "Daisy Cutter" bomb for...to make an instant airfield in a forest area, or to clear mine fields.

The Daisy Cutter doesn't look all that small either: http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2003/iraq/interactive/coalition/munitions/content.3.html

Don't criticize unless you know your history.

Massive Ordinance Air Blast - MOAB

The mother title is a mockery of Saadaam's quote during the first war, when he claimed that it would be "The mother of all battles."

LOL...I think you are reading too much into it. "The mother of all <insert term here>" is a very common phrase which means basically "This is the biggest yet". I don't think the term "Mother of all bombs" has anything to do with Saddam. It's just a bigass bomb Very Happy

No, I actually read an article which had an interview with Airforce ordnance development. They nicknamed it the mother as a mockery of Saadaam. I will see if I can find the article.

God only knows where I read that, so here is the best I can do.

I'd like to think they called it "Mother of all Bombs" as a joke, then MOAB for short, then decided to think of something else that MOAB could stand for. Smile

But you're probably right, Kirby. Smile
