Well I just heard about this a little while ago and have been searching for info on the internet but havent come accross much. For those who don't know about the train crash in N. Korea here's the link to a CNN article about it.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/asiapcf/04/22/nkorea.train/index.html

I was wondering if anyone here is from that region and might know anything else? I didn't think this would go into the Hot Pollitical topics forum because this is just a world even this wasn't terrorist related or anything. I'm just surprised because on some estiamates on websites they say near 3000 people may have been killed in this and it seems very serious... I dunno...

CNN & FOX.

Fluff & Fluff.

Fox is too busy reporting a cat stuck in a tree probably.

Watch CNN Intl., BBC World news (or any other British news program).

Well i saw it on cnn a while ago then they stoped reporting it. North Korea is not one of the US's allies. They freeking teach the north korean children that americans are all nazis that want to cause war and pain and that their leader is a a person equilling in the power of god. It's really a shame that they have such a huge army. If the prez where to invade north korea (allready shown to have nuclear capibilitys) like iraq it would cause a huge vietnom like war.

North Korea is worse than the USSR was as far as reporting incidents like this. Did you know that the N.Korean government cut off phone lines immediately after this happened? The only reason anybody even knows about it is because that town is in such close proximity to the Chinese border...and China is a little bit less secretive.

"Arms discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. Horrid mischief would ensue were (the law-abiding) deprived of the use of them." - Thomas Paine

I heard it was an assination attempt against Kim on FoxNews about 3 o clock EST. It might be a tight lipped situation because someone got that b@st>@rd, or the fact that he is planning some sort of retaliation effort.

Either way, I believe war over there is imminent, especially if assination attempt story is true!

Actually I do not believe it would. The AirForce fighters and bombers would eat that country alive, especially if they have nuclear capability. Not only that, but the Navy would tear N.Korea a new arsehole as well. When it finally came down to troops moving in for the kill, which would consist of tons of pissed off South Koreans, who prolly wouldve been hit by a nuclear bomb of some sort, then the chances for a Vietnam conflict could grow bigger. But, I do not see a Vietnam in there. Just like Iraq is no Vietnam either, but lets end this now, this could turn into a heated discussion! Smile

Ya we should just stay closer to the actual crash right now and not invading N. Korea... Otherwise this WILL have to be moved to the hot topics forum. Razz I really wonder what's going on right now over there though... hopefully we'll know soon.

Here's today's news on it...

http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/asiapcf/04/23/nkorea.train/index.html

Still no straight word on the number of casualties or the cause... It's being investigated. Also unlike earlier reports they now say Kim was through the station 9 hours before not just a few hours.

Apprantly the train couldn't have been going any more than 30 mph.. not enough for anything serious to happen.
