I am sure you have all seen the posts where people post screen prints of there desktops?

Well this is a question about shorcuts I saw on one of them...

I saw that they had shortcuts to diffrent servers? How do you do this I would love to set up shortcuts to my favourite servers...

Thank you in advance.

Um, the way to do that really shouldn't be made public for reasons Blazer stated in a thread on the old official forums...

there is no reason it SHOULDNT be made public. the name exploit is dealt with anyways with BR, the long name autokick for wol.

Long name autokick doesn't change the fact that I can log in as "slugwolop" without your password and play in laddered games.

that doesnt change the fact that the renegade ladder is already screwed up anyways. it also doesn't change the fact that it is documented in about 500 places in the renegade files. (exaggeration). The WOL Ren Ladder is inaccurate, insecure, and pointless. REOL's ladder, when finished will own. Of course i won't be there to help make it happen ;-|

Yeah i did post how to do this once but i did remove it because of the security issues related to WOL. I still use it anyway, i only use GSA servers so it comes in handy when connecting to my clans public server. If you really do want to make them to connect to a GSA server then there are tools around that you can use to generate the shortcut.

Whether the WOL ladder is "screwed up" or not bears no relevance on the fact that it is possible to play as someone else in a laddered game. And, it is certainly NOT documented how to do this "trick" in the manual. If so, tell me which page and I'll look it up in mine.

Well, I figured out how to make the shortcuts myself, it can be nifty. You do however need to know an ip address to connect to, so you need some degree of host permission, unless you can get an ip by other means...

The official forums are a large part of the C&C: Renegade community. They have been for almost two years.

But that's not the point.

Crimson,
You as the 0wner of the forums, I'm sorry to say, are out of line. Your comment here most likely should have been kept locked up. This could make future community members think twice of joining. I know where your coming from, but you do have a responsibility of making members and potential members feel welcome. Irregardless of your feelings towards them.
