Your computer is infected with one of the kinds of viruses that infects every EXE file that is accessed. http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/Print10113.htm

This is pretty serious and you need to clean that virus ASAP as Im sure most of the files on your computer (including renguard) are infected.

Ah that sucks.

W32/Parite made me lose an assload of executable files on my comp a few days ago.

Looks you will have to delete & reinstall loads of stuff.

Looks like your Norton expired.

Make sure your system is clean before you install a new version...

then again you might be better off reformmating your pc and reinstall win and a good thing to have is nortons security 2004, or even 2003 it's very good. most viruses are worm in some nature and almost impossable to remove completly.

Norton sucks...Besides Norton Internet Security won't protect you from viruses, its just a firewall. For a firewall use Zonealarm Free edition, and for anti-virus use AVG Free edition.

YOUR SO DANM WRONG
first off it has security prog, and it's own virus Prog, plus it protects you from trojens and theres settings in the package that lets you add protection for viruses and trojens that it might not have in it's definitions. so just becuse you dont like it dont crap on something that works.
i hate ppl that are so damn negitive expecialy when they no not of whatt they talk.

I honestly doubt that, because I had the exact same thing described in the initial post happen to me. I believe it was due to the defective 1.00/1 release or something like that, because the file update.exe was probably corrupted and was setting off a false alarm in Norton. And I know Renguard would never be released with a virus, so =P

And obviously, I am not infected with any virus, for I have scanned, checked, and ensured.

Being a long-time Systemworks fan, I think I know what I am talking about. I may be wrong about their packaging but I guess you aren't aware of the 4 new exploits that allow someone to remotely take control of any PC running Norton then?

 I have a free version of McAfee Pro 7.1 on my laptop, however, my server comp, got a virus & I had to reformat, therefore, I lost the installer before I could make a backup copy. I just installed Zone Alarm on there since, I've noticed alot lately, that several hackers have been trying to hack me, my McAfee firewall blocked them, they tried about 20 times in an hour while I was in Renegade. Evil or Very Mad
Also, if anyone could tell me where to get another free copy that's fully functional of McAfee Pro 7.1 firewall/anti-virus I'd be very greatful Very Happy

/me looks at his Trend Micro OfficeScan Corporate Edition

Now this is the best virus scanner i have, just get a shitty computer, hook it up to net an network an install officescan corp edition on it, then all you other computers download the clients of the main computer (server).

Tis the best virus scanner i have ever had!

I would recommend McAfee if I hadn't had to reformat more than 5 computers due to its ill-effects.

Confused McAfee hasn't done that to me, my comp just got a virus & my mom doesn't seem to wanna update the virus definitions & when we defraged or anything before the reformat the comp would freeze, this is just before we had McAfee installed too (the freezing). So I reformatted & right now all the comp has is Zone Alarm...I kinda like McAfee fw better, but this'll do for now

Agreed.

I'm running AVG free edition also, and it's not so resource hungry as norton or McAfee which both lead me to reformat.

FYI -> http://www.symantec.com/sabu/nis/nis_pe/
http://www.symantec.com/sabu/nis/nis_pe/features.html

Take note the key features, Anti-Virus...
It is a package including Firewall and Anti-Virus and a few other toys, I rather like the Intrusion Detection feature. Nice package, I would actually recommend it over anything else.
