Hey, im getting a new computer built, but i dont know what i should get for it. Can any one sugest a configuration for a good gaming computer that would be less than 900$ not including monitor. I want to use this computer for playing games like UT2004, some microsoft word stuff, and for burning cd's. Also can you reconmend some sites from where i can get good deals. Thanks.

Try http://www.newegg.com, good responses from there I hear.

You will probably want at least 1 GB of RAM for good performance, a ATi Radeon for graphics, and a good size HD, probably about 80 GB.

Sites:

http://www.newegg.com

http://www.pcpartscollection.com/

http://www.pricewatch.com/ <---- damn. some of the best prices I've ever seen. Shocked (Never tried it out though, so I hope that it's legit.)

I'd build my own computer but I'm kinda broke... Sad

a ATi Radeon for graphics

First off it would be an ATi Radeon for graphics and why would he want an ATi when the Splash Screen says nVidia: The way it's meant to be played?

If you plan on leaving everything at stock speeds (not overclocking Razz). Go with an Athlon 64 2800+-3200+ for your processor. For your memory just get 512 at first then if you need more there is always room to upgrade. Why overshoot and blow money or something you don't need right? For video card if you want top of the line the GeForce FX 5950XT or the Radeon 9800XT, midline go the the Radeon 9600XT or the GeForce FX 5700 (Utlra?). For the harddrive depending on what you are doing, get a 7200 RPM one with 8 mb cache. And of course a motherboard that supports all this. Razz

A good site, which will allow you to get this under 900 if definitely http://www.newegg.com or http://www.zipzoomfly.com
