I have tried every way i could of installing renguard but each time when it loads i get an error message saying:

Error verifying startup parameters

Please can someone shead some light on this as i can't play on any decent servers now without renguard working.

Like crimson said yesterday on IRC the most likely is that a required .DLL file was not copied to the renegade dir or it wasnt copied correctly to fix it you should delete the file already in your data-dir and extract this one there.

I hope this fixes it. (Maybe try put the dll there BEFORE you install RenGuard)

Contact me or mac.

I cant reveal what that error actually means without compromising renguard security but one possible problem is that you are running RenGuard on a drive that isnt a hard disk (e.g. a floppy, network drive, CDROM, ram disk or whatever). That is one cause of this error.

Oh and btw, it has nothing to do with dll files or an incorrect install.

Colonel
RenGuard works on drives other than C:. On two of my computers Renegade is installed on the D:. So it had to have been something on your computer that was making it error.

Hmm... this reminds me of a problem i had earlier with the FDS.

Some months ago already i was uninstalling the FDS from the C-drive to reinstall it on the E-drive.
During the FDS setup i DID enter E:\Westwood\FDS but somehow this stupid program KEPT insatlling it in my OLD dir that i used on the C-Drive.
After six reinstalls i went into the registry to delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Westwood\RenegadeFDS key from there.
And what the hell!!!! It worked, now it DID install to the right location.

Maybe you shouldve deleted the old Renegade key from the registry which is not done automatically during uninstall :S
