Just did a re-run of 3Dmark 2001 on my AMD XP2000+ rather than my AMD 1400Mhz Thunderbird and the difference on my Albatron Geforce 4 4200 Ti P Turbo is 1620 (1100 before) and the new detonator XP drivers let me push the clock another Mhz higher on the card. This card is truly amazing me with it performance. Even the Full Screen Anti Aliasing (FSAA) runs well without taking a performance hit too badly on most games.

I have to apologize. I am not running in 2X/16X like I always say I am... I am running in 2X/8X. Not a big deal though... on to the screen shot comparisons.

Here is your reference image:
http://www.n00bstories.com/image.view.php?id=1552879194

Here is an image on my 9500 Pro with 2X AA and 8X AF @ 800x600:
http://www.n00bstories.com/image.view.php?id=1606257431
This is what I normally play in. I have circled areas that are of intrest.

Here is the same general area with 4X AA and 8X AF:
http://www.n00bstories.com/image.view.php?id=2127526661

And i didn't say you can find 9500 Pro's for 120 bucks. I said they were 200 retail. since you were considering a 4600, i threw it in. You can however buy a 9500 non-pro 128MB online for around 140. The difference between the Pro and non-pro is 4 pixel pipelines (4 on non-pro, 8 on pro). There is a speed hit, and the non-pro is more inline with a 4200 speed-wise.

Food for thought for everyone Smile

Alright thanks, I can definately see the difference in the 4X AA and 8X AF, its fairly significant I guess...
And tell me this, isn't it possible to get 3.1 Megabits on a cable modem? My friend (Jiggarozz) says you can't, but then i went to this site:
http://www.bandwidthplace.com/speedtest thats what i got, is it legit?

Thanks for all your help, I'll see what i can find. Very Happy

Update: I've found it, this is what I'm going with!

I'm positive this is the best bang for my buck and since my friend in Ohio can get it for half off, this is a sweet deal...

My comp has been great up to the point EA ate WS Mad
Now in the bigger servers of Yokohoma I'm getting about 14 FPS, and it's starting to piss me off...

What do you guys use?
I'm trying to get something under $100 and under $80 would be nice; and have about 50 FPS. How about this? http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?cat=3951&dept=3944&product_id=1711527&path=0%3A3944%3A3951%3A3925%3A3958%3A4467

Anyway, if you have a video card, please leave the name and your FPS in a 40+ game.

Any help will be appreciated, thanks Very Happy

P.S. Is it Circuit City that will beat anybody elses price by 10%?
And does that go for video cards too?

-KoZz

The card you want to buy, I have it. It gets like 30-50fps in 10 player games. 20-35fps in 20 player games. 15-25fps in 30 player games.
Now I got Radeon 9500, I gets about double that with my resolution 1024 x 768.
I say, get a card for $80- $120 "Radeon", and be happy with your fps.

Once again, I have to urge you NOT to buy a Radeon 7500. If you want a card of that level of performance, I need to urge you to purchase either a GF4MX or a GF2 Pro/TI. However, for the sub-100 market you can easily pick up a Radeon 8500LE 128MB that will easily outperform a GF4MX, Radeon 9000, and 7500.

Yeah Bear, I've been asking around and turns out 7500 isn't the way to go, I'm thinking about the 9000 now, and since I can get it half off, it will be a pretty good deal. But I opened up my comp. last night and saw that I already had a Geforce 2 in my only AGP slot and 2 things in my four PCI...
Should i get PCI, or replace the Geforce 2 and put the new card in the AGP?

And Dunt, how do you turn off your Vsinc?

I never thought buying a video card could be this confusing... Shocked Shocked

Turning off v-sync made my fps go from 60 to 130 Smile but then others join and it goes to 70-85 (mid game 20playa serv @ 1024*768).
(BTW, MY MACHINE FLIES WHILEST IT'S PENDING 300+FPS hehe)

It's an option u need to change from AUTO to OFF on the advanced part of Display Settings. right click desktop->properties->settings->advanced

goto your vidcard tab and the option should be somewhere there under direct3d section. That's where it is with my geforce, other brands I dunno, prolly in same place. If the option isn't there look for and download 'coolbits.reg' on the net if u get/have got nvidia card or a vidcard tweaker if u go non-nvidia (dunno what is out there for other cards sry, maybe someone else can help here)

Coolbits adds various hidden options (including overclocking util, v-sync settings, blah blah blah) for nvidia cards when using newer drivers (v41.xx and up)

You want to use the AGP slot for certain. I just replaced mt Geforce 2 with that Geforce 4 that i was on about. You don't need your Geforce 2 when you have a new card. The PCI bus is much slower than the AGP bus for things such as graphics cards and newer games such as C&C Generals cannot run on a PCI 3D Accelearator. The Geforce 4 is a cheap but powerful card. I have listed the Geforce 4 cards below so you can understand them better.

GeForce 4 MX 420 (PCI/AGP)
GeForce 4 MX 440 (PCI/AGP)
GeForce 4 MX 460 (PCI/AGP)
GeForce 4 Ti 4200 (AGP 4x)
GeForce 4 Ti 4400 (AGP 4x)
GeForce 4 Ti 4600 (AGP 4x)
GeForce 4 Ti 4800 (AGP 8X)
GeForce 4 Go (laptop)
GeForce 4 Go 4200 (laptop)
