How about you prove there IS another solution. I've never seen someone offer a real solution that is an alternative to war. However, plenty of people have made the case that we have run out of other options.

I agree with NeoSaber. Someone said earlier that pacifists never seem to offer solutions. It's not like Bush went and declared war on his first day in office. Hussein is a madman and can't be reasoned with, therefore we're left with speaking his language.

Out of the people who feel there are more solutions before war, a huge percentage has merely been brainwashed by the biggest terrorist organization in the US, the Media.
WHERE is the magical solution? Unless you can give us even one option, your argument will hold no water.

Duke of Nukes | all that has been tried is one diplomatic solution. There's always more than one solution...and all I said is that other solutions should be explored first. I'm not saying anything else because I do not wish this to turn into a debate. This is how I feel, this is how a good portion of the country feels and by ignoring it, you are proving ignorance
|
Various diplomatic solutions have been tried for 12 years. Negotiations, Economic Sanctions, Weapons Inspections, etc. Saddam has actively tried to hide his weapons and hurt his people during all this.
Even if we were to continue with weapons inspections until they somehow disarmed Saddam, what then? Saddam is still in power. He will do his best to rebuild them, France and other countries will probably help him. He'll countinue to brutalize his country the whole time.
Any method that leaves Saddam, or his party, in power is a failure. The only thing other then a US led war that will get him out of power is if he was assassinated and then a rebellion overthrew the rest of his government.

It's safe to say that all of us want all solutions explored before we just go bomb them... the difference lies in the people who whine and say "There just HAS to be some other way... but I don't know what it is." and those who realize that there is nothing left to do.

I must admit that I am not against this war. For what ever reason for the invasion, it seems better just have one rouge state bought under control. It also gives me something to write about when I have run out of ideas, or just drunk on my ass.
All I want to know is....
If we, (the brits and the yanks,) didn’t go in there with a semi united front, would Sadam ever be ousted and a fair government put in his place? Would he ever have disarmed?
I think not. My own view at the moment is that the UN would have kept on passing resolutions and not doing anything. Hell, the UN were so bothered about this war lord that they let him have a military and even allow the development of long range missiles. If 1441 was ever going to work, shouldn’t it have already been enforced?
A fair question, at least to me, any one got an answer? I would like to know what people think.

Saddam is the one narrowing his options.
Saddam has had 12years to explore routes to 'peace' & 'disaramament'.
Saddam has been playing the UN like a flute this whole time.
Not only is Saddam not getting rid of all the OLD weapons etc that he had BUT he is creating new one that are in violation.
Containment DOES NOT WORK with people like this.
The main thing I've heard from the anti-war side is, "But war isn't the only option !!" , "Give the inspectors more time !!"
Ok, what is the other option that will work with Saddam specificly ?
And, if you want more time then set a FUCKING date. But no....lets set a 'dead line' then move it back, then set a 'dead line' then move it back, then set a 'dead line' then move it back, then set a 'dead line' then move it back then set a 'dead line' then move it back. And after all that when someone suggest MILITARY FORCE you will be screaming NOOOOO !!! THERE ARE OTHER OPTIONS !!! GIVE THE INSPECTORS MORE TIME.
I'm the drug user but you seem to be the one with the pìpÉdreäm's.
