This has nothing to do with renegade, but I am trying to make a startup disc for Windows XP. The problem is whenever i put a floppy into the drive it says it isnt there. I have tried it with about 5 differet ones now and 3 different computers. They all do the same thing. I am lost. Question

I'm betting you're either putting it in upside down, or you're trying to push it to the CD-ROM Very Happy

There's a hole in the sky through which things can fly.

That's possible, have you used the drive before?

Also, it might just be a faulty floppy.

I've used it before. It came with a HP package bundle, you know the stuff your parents think are a good deal? I got a new motherboard, CPU, etc. and I don't recall using it with that. Now I have another board and it just isn't working. I'll try pulling an old one out and using it.

it might be the cables from ur floppy to mobo, but i am not sure. when i built my computer, i had my floppy cables wrong. The only thing is, it wouldn't identify the drive so i couldn't even get as far as you apparently are.

whoa.

I have concluded it was a bad drive. Thanks for the help.

i have a corrupted cd-rom drive. i can explore and copy files off of it, but it messes some things up. I was unable to install XP on my computer until it was suggested that I used my external cd-rw drive. i still don't see how 98SE was able to install fine and XP was screwed.

whoa.

My comp (while it had XP on it) never had a floppy drive because it simply didn't work.

That could explain why the other two don't work either then.
