Hello, I’m new here and my english is not very well. My Problem is: I have bought a Server with complete “root” access and I don’t know how I should install the Server. I have downloaded “Renegade_1037b_BETA_RH8-0.tar“ and unpacked it and I have load this on the server. In "/home/cncre/". But how further? I’ve "SuSE 8.1" on this server with Webmin. There’s a “Kommandozeile” for using (starting) Linux Instructions. I’ve read I need "RedHat 8" or "SuSE 8.2". But doesn’t it work with "SuSE 8.1"?
Thank you for fast answers. Much Greedings, Buggy Smile

That file name sounds wrong for a server. You are running on Linux right? or Windows?

Seriously, buy a book. webmin is NO administration utlity, this is for newbies.

First, running the renegade server from your "Kommandozeile" (Commandline) will not work. You need to login via SSH. Download putty (google for it), and connect to your server.

Then, extract the server. If your filename is renegade.tar.gz, you can extract it with tar xzvf renegade.tar.gz

Then, you just execute it by ./renegade, or whatever the executable filename is. Be sure to read the FDS' README.

Download it, and _run_ the exe file. It's just a normal windows exe file that you need to execute.

Use the "SSH" option when connecting with putty, not "telnet". You need a real console, and that is putty. Webmin console will not work.

SSH is already started. You do not need to start it. I have never seen a server without SSH!!

Just connect to it, or ask your hoster to enable SSH for you

yes i can login on the server with https://213.239.201.143:10000 to Webmin.https is ssh, or not?
If I want to start SSH on Server with Webmin it shows me: "Der SSH Server konnte nicht gestartet werden : 15826: Bad owner or mode for /var/lib/empty"
Why? And If want to connect to the server with putty (213.239.201.143:22) it shows me: "Network Error: Connection refused"

Ask your hoster to enable SSH for you. Change the hoster, if they won't enable SSH for you. This is something that is STANDARD on every linux machine. If it has no SSH; you cannot really call it a linux box.
