DaveGMM | You're trying to make some kind of point...?

Yup. Support your PM. He's got more balls than all the pacifists in Britain put together. He knows the real threat, and is doing something about it, even though it isn't popular.
A man of vision.

Sorry to disapoint mate, but the general populace have little to do with it, u need to thank that smarmy prick called Tony Blair, and when u say america will always be there for us, do u mean in the way that the US put tax levys on european steel imports or the way that the usa's fiscal policy has devalued the dollar to increase US exports and decrease imports from europe, thus improving your economy but doing damage to ours?

No, you smarmy prick.
I mean in the way of the Blitz, and invasions. That sort of thing.
If the European economy is so devastated by the U.S. levies, then why is the Euro worth more?
Nothing ever is simple.

if you knew the first thing about economics and if you actually ready my post and if you actually did some research, you would find that i stated that the US's fiscal policy devalued the dollar on purpose, as this has the effect of making it cheaper for overseas countries to export from the US but it makes foriegn imports more expensive for american companies, thus increasing demand for home made US goods but making the rest of the worlds goods more expensive to import, and thus lowering demand for them.
If you insist on going back to the blitz, maybe you would find it interesting to know that the US didnt help out of the goodness of your hearts, the US was happy to sit back and watch europe destroy itself, only when Pearl Harbour wars attacked did you interviene. Once you did interviene you did not do it for the good of the world as a whole, the US demanded payment for its help in the war, which led to the down fall of the "british empire", sounds like a mercenary action to me. once again no flame is intended just a little reality check

SIGH....
Downfall of the empire? C'mon now. The empire was in decline since America broke free in the revolution.
The U.S. actually had a non-interference policy back then which was a result of the backlash of WW1 trench warfare and chemical warfare.
Ever heard of the bases for ships deal which proves America's president was trying to get involved BEFORE Pearl, and what of the Marshall plan to rebuild ALL of Europe after the war?
Detroyers for bases deal:
http://www.history.navy.mil/faqs/faq59-24.htm
Marshall Plan:
http://www.loc.gov/exhibits/marshall/
WW2 was probably the most selfless war America has ever fought. It was fought to preserve the democracies that existed at the time. It was not fought for economics, as our economy could survive isolation at the time, and it was not fought because we wanted the end of the british empire. We did not take over. Each country was restored, and is independent.
The empire was VOLUNTARILY dismantled by BRITAIN, using the commonwealth system. This system is still in effect, which former colonies still part of Britain. (See Bermuda) Isreal was created VOLUNTARILY by the BRITISH in one of thier former territories.
Establishment of Isreal:
http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/is.html
You need to read up a bit, chum.
Why do you people constantly question me? I consistently prove you wrong.

What rebuild "ALL" of EU?
Not all countries fought in ww2, so your statement to rebuild ALL countries are wrong.

Ok, since you want to get technical:
Holland was rolled over, as was Belgium, and the sudetenland. Austria was annexed, and the Swiss did thier usual "leave us be" thing.
Your point? All combatant nations in Europe received aid through the Marshall Plan that were not Soviet Block puppets.
Oh, and by the way, there was no "E.U." back then, so your statement is invalid. I never referred to the E.U. . You did.

Either Way
1) The US government has been manipulating its currency, to the detriment of the rest of the world
2) Bases for ships, hardly an undying show of support, it still requests something in return for the use of US equipment.

Yes. But what was that request? Bases to further support the war effort that we weren't officially in yet. And when the war was over the bases were returned to Britain, effectively GIVING the British all those ships.
And if you think the EU isn't trying to do the same thing to the rest of the world, you have no concept of economics in a capitalist society.
That idea that America is devalueing it's currency for economic gain, and leverage is absolute trash, and a total contradiction. A powerful U.S. dollar is in the best interests of America.

DAN you suck balls we have a right to what is best for OUR country YOU joined the EU and the EU is not all that friendly to OUR economy. Drop your import restrictions lower YOUR own GODDAMN tarrifs. Why the fuck do some of you euro trash (no offense to the rest the of you) want to to whine about what is by definition OUR own internal policies yet cannot handle YOUR own internal problems without OUR involvement.
Drop the issues of penis envy already. America still has the biggest one on the block despite the EU having with HOW many countries? Sorry but the dollar is still the benchmark for the rest of the world as far as it goes .... wait a minue I am not sorry for for that. We worked hard for that position.
And far as not supporting GB before Pearl Harbor get it straight look at the losses suffered by a supposedly nuertal country in merchant marine before we even entered the war ..... how about American lives lost supporting GB through the merchant marine after?
http://www.usmm.org/shipsunkdamaged.html
http://www.usmm.org/sunk39-41.html#anchor325668
and look at all the ships detained by YOUR country rpior to our entry.
How many Americans lost their lives to invade the ciontinent again so YOU could whine about OUR economic policies. I suppose we could have done nothing and you would be still raising your arm in salute of Das Fuhrer.
So go tell it to someone who cares about your sniveling whiny attitude.
Onwe mreo thing arther than whiing about it WW2 I would prefer to be thanked about saving your miserable worthless whining overly self riteous ass from singing the Horst Wessel song everyday at school.
Disclaimer: I do realize many if not most from England are ok (Dave Andy and so forth) but I get my blood pressure up when wankers like this just have no clue as to how the world works.

Which brings us back to our original point.
The U.K. is worth fighting for. America has always thought so. It always will. American soldiers will die alongside British as long as you'll let us.
AND TO EMPHASIZE THIS POINT, AND SHOW THAT AMERICA ISN'T ABOUT "GETTING SOMETHING" IN RETURN :
We liberated France. What possible gain could there be in that circumstance?

Listen you legalistic moron, see the highlighted word. I can't see how you keep missing this point. And the reason Sweden wasn't invaded.............
http://www.geocities.com/pelle108/history/part14/part_14.htm
They were sending war materials to Germany, so they wouldn't get invaded by them. How very very noble. Look it up if you don't know where it is.
Now, shut up, and read up. You clearly do not have what it takes to participate in mental judo.

Why does everyone hate the French so much? Everywhere I go, someone's alwways saying how stupid the French are, blah blah, blah blah blah.
