I recently bought a new computer, it doesn't have an operating system. So my objective is to install XP Professional SP1 on it.
Specs :
AMD Athlon XP 3200+
120 GB HDD
128 MB ATi Radeon
512 MB DDR400 Ram
Modem
Network Card
Onboard Sound
4x DVD-/+ RW
Floppy drive
My experience with installing operating systems is pretty good, done it plenty of times in the past with various OS's.
The situation i'm in, is this...
Setup the pc with keyboard, mouse etc.
Turn on, booted from XP CD.
New 100% partition, then full format of C:\
Installed XP, and been through all the setup stages.
When the computer finalizes setup, then reboots, it gets to the windows XP splash screen with the blue progress loading bar, it cycles roughly 75% along the bar, then the machine will either hard reset or hang. Without fail, it will always do one of the two.
There doesn't seem to be anything i can do to prevent it. Even safe mode does it.
Any help would be appreciated, if you need more info just ask.
