As I mentioned before, jonwil has been working double-time to finish the client side of the application. He's made enough progress that now the team has received their first copy of the RenGuard client to beta-test the software.

What this means for you is that RenGuard will be released VERY SOON! We are all very eager to get this out the door so we can play cheat-free again, but please be patient with us and let us get as many bugs killed as we can.

Once again, thanks to jonwil for stepping in when we needed him the most and helping us finish this major project.

I'm the bawss.

Punkbuster can be avoided, it's possible to cheat even in Pb-protected games. It's helluva lot harder though.

There's a hole in the sky through which things can fly.

^^ true. A few months ago in a punkbuster protected soldier of fortune 2 server I watched someone show people his aimbot in first person view. (when you're dead you can spectate people in first person too) He'd be tracking them through walls and every shot would be locked onto the head. Then again, that game seems to be plagued with cheaters.

So it might be possible to cheat in a renguard server. I can imagine how many people will call foul on the accusation though. Renguard is there to help prevent cheating. It's not a 100% guarantee there won't be anyone cheating, it's just unlikely.

And even if it is only a 70% drop in cheaters (not suggesting it will be), that is still a massive improvement.
